The Federal Initiative "Youth To The Web" (Jugend ans Netz), a project
funded by the Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ), had
the aim to strengthen young people's informal education with the expansion
of extracurricular educational services on the internet. The initiative's
concern was to offer equal opportunities by using the new media and in
addition to close the "digital divide".

The Centre of Competence for Informal Education (CCIE) conducted the
scientific monitoring of the Federal Initiative from 2002-2006.
